There is new light in Branson

Singers compete each Friday at 11 p.m at the Jim Stafford Theatre, 3440 W. Hwy. 76, Branson, for a prize package including $100 cash, and a spot in semi-finals and then the finals to win a top prize of $5,000 cash, sponsored by Pepsi, a recording session, a one-day multi-shoot photo session by Big Smile Studio, and much more.

Doug Gabriel’s Branson Spotlight (formerly Branson Idol) is gearing up for its fourth weekly competition this Friday with Tony Roi from the Elvis Experience as the guest judge. It is good to see Branson inviting new talent into the mix.

Branson has secrets

What dose fish and coffee have in common?  Go Fish (a cute store nestled in downtown Branson) does carry that rare and unusual item for yourself or a creative gift for someone else that you simply cannot find in other stores. It is fun to browse the many shelves and racks and see what Bill and Valerie Coleman have gathered from unusual markets around the world for your enjoyment and pleasure.

Not far from their is coffees that come in a plethora of different flavors and you can create a flavor to be your particular favorite, mixed your way, by the blending of many different savory extracts at the Branson Bean.

There is silver in the mountains of Missouri

This year there is a new festival called the Bluegrass & BBQ Festival. It is scheduled for part of May and June. Though I am not a big bluegrass fan, I am sure that bluegrass show followers will want to plan a visit.  I have been to Silver Dollar City at different times throughout the year. My suggestion is to go in the spring or fall season. Not only is the park bursting with amazing color, the crowds do not seem to be as large as the summer months.

Jim Stafford has new seats

The first ten rows of the Jim Stafford theater are brand new. They are oversized and very plush. They even had headrests. I was seated near the back, and even though I was not close enough to land one of the new seats, mine was also very roomy and comfortable. Every seat in the theatre came with an cup holder as an added bonus. I would rate all the seats in this theatre as tops. They may be some of the best in town. I am not a small person, so in my opinion a nice large seat is a great asset to any theatre.
