Splinter Middleton on "Gene Williams Show"

The next telecast of the Lucas Oil Products sponsored "Gene Williams Country Television Show" is action-packed with appearances by Splinter Middleton from "Grand Country Comedy Jubilee" and up-and-coming Arkansas vocalist Angie Penny.

"Grand Country’s favorite son, Splinter Middleton is true country. Splinter holds the record of being in the longest running matinee in Branson. Many of Branson’s stars got their start on stage with Splinter Middleton. Angie is no stranger to the stage either. She has played at local fairs, district fairs, and many festivals and events in the Midwest area and shared the stage with such country stars as Buddy Jewell, The Kentucky Headhunters, Billy Jo Royal, Exile, and other up and coming performers. She and her band the Little Red Express present a mix of traditional and contemporary country music," said Williams, the star, creator and producer of the "Gene Williams Country Television Show."

Gene Williams was honored by the State of Arkansas with three proclamations during the last taping of his Branson, Mo. - based television show - setting a record of nine times that Gene Williams Day has been declared in the state.
On the Monday, Aug. 22 taping of the Lucas Oil Products sponsored "Gene Williams Country Television Show" at Ain’t Misbehavin’ Theatre, Hwy. 165 & Green Mtn. Dr., in Branson, Mo. Arkansas State Rep. J.R. Rogers presented Williams citations from declaring Aug. 27 as Gene Williams Day. The citations are from Arkansas Secretary of State Charlie Daniels, an Executive Department Proclamation from Gov. Mike Huckabee and from the House of Representatives. All recognize his lifetime achievements and work in country music and tourism.
Since the late 1960s Williams paved the way for country music in television and is credited with having the largest syndicated country music television show not affiliated with Nashville.
Williams grew up listening to country music just down the road from Johnny Cash. He pursued his dream of being in the country music business where his first job was on KWAM radio as a disk jockey. He soon moved to television and within four months had three shows and was on the air 4 1/2 hours a week. He began on KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, Ark. and KARK-TV in Little Rock.
The Gene Williams Country Junction Show was syndicated to over 30 markets. Williams later syndicated the Gene Williams Show in eight states which led to the making of his motion pictures, Sound of Country Music and Country Music Jamboree.
The "Gene Williams Country Television Show" set is designed similar to the earlier "Tonight Show" set. Ed McMahon even does his introduction and has appeared as a guest on Williams’ show. The show is a 2003 Telly Award, cable television’s equivalent of an Emmy. Launched over four years ago, it is also Branson’s first and longest running country music television show. It features one guest star each week in performances with Williams’ band, the Country Junction Band and in an up-close and personal interview with Williams and his co-host Katie Lynn, award winning vocalist in Branson and featured female singer with the "Mickey Gilley Show" in Branson.
Guests have included: Mickey Gilley, Joey Riley, Sons of the Pioneers, Jimmy Osmond, Helen Cornelius, Leona Williams, Buck Trent, Jim Owen, the Duttons, Norma Jean, the Platters, Mary Lou Turner, Barbara Fairchild, Ed McMahon, Doug Gabriel, Roy Clark and Grand Ole Opry stars, Little Jimmy Dickens, Charlie Louvin, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Bill Anderson, Porter Wagoner, Jack Greene, Jimmy C. The show is currently taped every third week in Branson at the Ain’t Misbehavin’ Theatre and telecast weekly to more than 20 million homes border-to-board and coast-to-coast. Williams recently taped his 2,400 show which is seen in such markets as Ada, Okla., Bentonville, Ark., Branson, Mo., Buffalo, N.Y., Burlington, Vt., Casper, Wyo., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cheyenne, Wyo., Dallas, Texas, Denison, Texas, Denver, Colo., Eldorado, Ark. Congressman Roy Blunt Press Conference Tuesday

U.S. Congressman Roy Blunt of Missouri will hold a Press Conference at the College of the Ozarks at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16 in the U.S. Bank Foyer of the Keeter Center on the College Campus.
Congressman Blunt will be officially recognizing the college as "Archivist" for the Branson Veterans Task Force History Project. The College of the Ozarks will be represented by its President Dr. Jerry Davis. Congressman Blunt speak about the importance of the Veterans History Project (US Library of Congress national initiative) and his pleasure at recognizing College of the Ozarks for their archiving of veterans’ histories in the Branson area.
Branson’s recognition of veterans has long been a year ‘round community effort. The National Veterans History Project, connected to the US Library of Congress, has recognized the Veterans History Project Committee of the Branson Veterans Task Force for its outstanding efforts in recording the stories of our American Heroes. Since 2002 local and visiting veterans have been interviewed and their stories recorded. Branson has been the only location in the country that is allowed to locally archive these recordings with a summary sent to the Library of Congress to appear on their national website for access to historians and other interested parties. To date nearly 700 of these recorded interviews have been or are being processed by the local committee. They include histories of World War I veterans up to and including the war in Iraq. Last fall the Medal of Honor Society held its meeting in Branson and interviews were taken then.
The local Veterans History Project (VHP) Committee has volunteer interviewers working with local hotels hosting military reunion groups, the Veteran’s Memorial Museum in Branson, local veterans, visiting veterans, the Branson Veterans Task Force and various other entities that can put the VHP Committee members in contact with veterans willing to volunteer their personal stories.
One of the most important concerns of the committee is the safe, secure archiving of these unique and precious bits of history. College of the Ozarks has generously dedicated space in their Gittinger Campus Ministries office for the records to be archived and made available to the public. These records include VHS tape or DVDs of the entire interview as recorded by the veteran with the interviewer.
The Branson Veterans Task Force is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to recognizing and honoring the men and women who have served their country in the military. Learn more about the Veterans History Project by visiting www.bransonveterans.com or call 866-859-4232.

Justin Flom returns from mission trip to Peru to perform Experience Illusion in Branson

Justin Flom, Branson’s youngest headliner and illusionist, has returned from a mission trip to Peru and is back at his show, Justin Flom: Experience Illusion at the Branson Mall Music Theatre.
Flom and his family from Minnesota took time off from his performing schedule in Branson to travel to South America to minister to the spiritually lost in Lima, Peru.
"I decided to let my show be dark for the two weeks to join 250 others from my home church, Grace Church in Eden Prairie, Minn. We worked 18 hour days to get as many ministry opportunities in before having to travel back to the states," said Flom who visited hospitals, orphanages and prisons.
Leaving his larger illusion show back in Branson, Flom performed his simplified magic show for 10 days more than 30 times to over 20,000 people. The thrilling part for Flom was the more than 5,000 who heard the Gospel and asked Jesus to be a part of their life.
"Our partnership with Peru’s Callao Church is vital because they take all of the names and addresses and begin contacting these individuals inviting them to church, into Bible studies, etc.," said Flom.
"The mission field is an incredible place to stretch your own faith and to feel like you are living a fulfilling life serving Jesus Christ. I am excited to be back home here in Branson to continue my dream of performing magic so I can continue to entertain so many while I also catch their eyes, so they listen with their ears, so God can touch their heart," he said.

Flom, along with his family, ministered to this same church in Peru in 1999 and in 2001 and in January of 2004 Flom traveled with his home church to again minister in this unique way to the large crowds of Kenya, Nairobi.
Even though Flom is only 19, he has been performing the art of illusion for over 16 years. His award-winning magic has been featured for audiences all around the United States of America as well as in eight different countries. His magic has been featured numerous times on television in the states, as well as on national television in the country of Peru. The president of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, Steve Varro, calls him "the next David Copperfield." He has also been called "the new face of magic."
Since opening last May, the show has received excellent reviews. "It’s almost magical in itself how this young man can perform so well...It is a show that relies on the heart of the magician and his ability to communicate and relate with his audiences as he performs for its success. It’s just magical the way this young man manages to do just that," said Gary Groman of the Branson Courier.
Experience Illusion is presented at 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at the Branson Mall Music Theatre. The show features unforgettable illusions, sidesplitting comedy with Flom’s duck, Juan, and beautiful magic with the assistance of the lovely and talented April Frerking. Especially moving is a veterans tribute that Flom went so far as to get special permission from the military department for part of the act to be included in his fast moving show for the whole family.
For reservations call the Branson Mall Music Theatre Box Office at 417-339-3939. The mall is located at 2206 West Hwy. 76.
